Introduction

The coexistence field of waves and flows has been one of the important and interesting topics for hydraulic and coastal engineers. Most studies in the area have been paid attention to the interactions of waves and uniform currents. Reports on waves interaction with a local strong flow have been rare. However, interactions between waves and a local strong flow in many circumstances play an important role in the behavior of the flow. A good example is the behavior of a turbulent jet under waves. In reality, contaminated water from an industrial plant in a coastal area is usually discharged into the shallow water at a certain depth under the water and frequently behaves like a turbulent jet.

The goal of the present study is to investigate the behavior of a neutrally buoyant turbulent round jet under different wave conditions.
